K-A-L-E

Most of you will never drink this! It’s too healthy, bitter, and requires too much effort. Thanks for stopping by, though. Keep reading if you think you or your personal chef might make it. It’s cold-pressed kale with an Omega juicer. A tablespoon of honey syrup can be added if needed, like training wheels. A pinch of spicy ground cayenne is optional but adds a kick. Heart-smart, though! Oh, and for all the emails you received – apparently fifty-five in total – those were a mistake. Just like bar business, things can be sporadic and people and drinks can come all at once. Thank you for understanding. Cheers! To your health.

K-A-L-E

Ingredients

1 bag of kale (reserve one piece for the garnish) or bunch depending on your preference

1 tablespoons of honey syrup (1:1 ration honey to water)

Pinch of cayenne pepper

Method

Open the bag. Wash the kale. Add the kale into the Omega juicer chute. Stir in honey and cayenne if you choose

Glass: bucket glass

Garnish: kale leaf

Bar Chef Notes: Cold-pressed juice lasts about two to three days in the refrigerator. This method of juicing preserves more vitamins and minerals. Nutrients from the inside out.

Motivation Monday Mean Green Smoothie

Today looked like Monday. The Monday that gets the bad rap Monday. A cold rainy January Monday case of the Mondays Monday. It could be Tuesday or Friday and would still feel like that Monday. To add to the case of the Mondays feeling, I don’t have any more of my usual frozen fruits for the smoothie. I contemplate click and ship within two hours via Amazon Fresh and decide against it. I am glad I did, decide against it. After rummaging through my freezer fridge and cupboards, I figured it out. You’ll thank me. The Motivation Monday Mean Green Smoothie for any day of the week that feels like, you know, is a happy smoothie. It’s fresh bright light and satisfying. After a few sips, you will be asking yourself, case of the Mondays what? Who me? And I don’t know know about you but I feel a teensy bit healthier it being green and all.

Motivation Monday Mean Green Smoothie

1 Cup of Frozen Spinach

1/2 Fresh Cucumber

1/4 Cup of Frozen Black Cherries

8 Fresh Mint Leaves and a sprig for garnish

1 Scoop of SAKARA Protein + Greens Super Powder (contains pea and hemp protein pumpkin seed protein sesame protein coconut milk powder AND Super Greens Blend (spirulina, I’m guessing green and wheatgrass some barley and more..) addition coconut and vanilla for good measure. These are the ingredients listed in the package. Saves the trouble of buying all the seeds and peas and powders. It’s an all in one.

1 Scoop of Agent Nateur Holi (mane) Hair, Skin, Nails Supplement (marine collagen and pearl powder)

2 Tablespoons of Primal Kitchen Collagen Fuel Vanilla Coconut Drink Mix

2-3 Tablespoons of Agave

1 Cup of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

Method

Add almond milk to the blender. Then add frozen spinach. Continue with remainder ingredients. I recommend adding powders after the agave and almost last if you can; This way the powders don’t sink to the bottom of the blending machine and clump. Please don’t forget to wash your cucumber and your mint. I chopped extra and ate while I was preparing and contemplating what other ingredients I might add. Cinnamon could be nice too? I skip it. Anyways, blend all together and pour into glass.

Glass: Bucket Glass

Garnish: Mint Sprigs

Blood Orange Delight

Still adjusting to dry January? Me too.

This one could be a patio pounder, but we are still in dry January. Even if we weren’t, you won’t miss the gin (too much) with this one, though. The bitters’ flavors offer the botanicals we love in gin, and the blood orange adds a tart, bright light. The lemon zest Pellegrino provides a satisfying, refreshing finish, leaving you wanting more. Eight days and counting…

Cheers! You’re almost there.

Blood Orange Delight

Ingredients

1/2 of one blood orange

1 oz of agave

4 oz of lemon Pellegrino sparkling water

3-6 dashes All the Bitter cardamon coriander blood orange non-alcoholic bitters

Method

In a mixing tin, muddle half of a blood orange, pressing out as much juice as possible. A room temperature rolled orange helps. Add agave and ice, then shake until the mixing tin is cold. If you prefer a pulp-filled drink, strain into a bucket glass; if not, double strain. To double strain, use a Hawthorne strainer with a fine mesh strainer. Add ice to your bucket glass and top with lemon Pellegrino.

Glass: Bucket Glass

Garnish: Thinly sliced blood orange circle. Brûlée the orange using sugar and a torch for a fancy touch.

Bar Chef Note: Double-check all bitters ingredients for allergens and interactions

Cheers!

Appletini 2.0

Appletini 2.0

2 1/2 ounces of fresh juiced apples (you will need 4 apples. 3 for the juicing and 1 for the slicing and munching while preparing the cocktail)

1 ounce of cinnamon simple syrup

1/4 ounce of fresh lemon juice

2 ounces of vodka of choice

Method

For the juicing

In an Omega Juicer, juice three green Granny Smith apples. Set aside or chill in refrigerator until ready to use. The juice is best if used 24-48 hours after juicing when using a cold-pressed juicer. If the fresh juice isn’t cold pressed the recommended use time is immediately.

For the cinnamon syrup

In a sauce pan over medium heat dissolve equal parts beet sugar and water. Three ounces of water to three ounces of sugar, for example. Raise heat to a boil for about one minute. Add two tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Cinnamon sticks will work too but I only have ground cinnamon at the moment. Boil for another minute and then lower the heat to simmer for a few more minutes. Stir occasionally. Set aside to cool.

Slice apples for the garnish. Dipping your slices in fresh lemon juice prevents browning from oxidation. Place on a sealable container and refrigerate until ready to use. A plastic wrapped plate will work too. Then, add all ingredients to a mixing tin. Add ice. Stir or shake. Usually shaking with citrus is the best choice but if you are unable to shake ingredients for whatever reason, a good stirring will do. Shake and strain into the glass.

Glass: coupe (The glass used for this cocktail is a Crate & Barrel Camille Long-Stem Champagne Coupe Glass.)

Garnish: apple slice

Garnish: lemon juice dipped apple

Bar Chef Notes: Lemon juice prevents the apple from browning due to oxidation. If you prefer, do a double strain which aids in removal of residual ice and pulp presenting a clearer cleaner cocktail. This one, pulp and ice crystal and all for me is best, surprisingly. A teaspoon of apple cider vinegar gives extra zing, should you be inclined.

Please enjoy responsibly and be of the legal drinking age.
